These are the partners and coaches behind the Chasing Warriors story and Best Ranger journey.

Tom Gamblin

1990

Thomas Gamblin, age 48, passed away in Chicago, IL while doing what he truly enjoyed - Ultra Marathon Running. He served in the 1st Ranger Battalion, 5th Special Forces Group, 3rd Special Forces Group, and 1st SFOD-Delta.

He competed in the Best Ranger Competition in 1987 and 1990.

Paul Casey

Paul Casey

1994

Paul Casey retired from the US Army in 2015 as a Command Sergeant Major with 32 years of service. He served in 1st Ranger Battalion, 1st, 3rd, and 10th Special Forces Groups, Naval Special Warfare Command, and Asymmetric Warfare Group.

He competed in the Best Ranger Competition in 1994 and 1999.

Joe Clark

1995

Joe Clark served 23 years with the USASOC and retired as a Sergeant Major. He conducted combat operations in five theaters including a combat parachute jump with 1/75th Ranger Regiment into Panama. In 2022 at Fort Benning, GA, he was honorably inducted into the Ranger Hall of Fame.

He competed in the Best Ranger Competition four different times between 1990 and 1995.

Chad White

1999

Chad White served in the 3rd Battalion, 75th Ranger Regiment for seven years and the 10th Mountain Division for three years. After 10 years, he left the Army and was highly successful in the Spinal Implant industry.

He competed in the Best Ranger Competition in 1999.

Coaches

Peter Pease

Coach

Peter Pease is a retired Sergeant Major who served in 5th and 3rd Special Forces Groups. He was our coach in 1990.

 

A seasoned mentor whose tactical expertise and unwavering focus guided the team through the grueling preparation. Leadership forged in genuine field experience.

Bobby Beiswanger

Coach

Bobby Beiswanger is a retired Master Sergeant who served in 1st Battalion, 75th Ranger Regiment, Ranger Training Brigade, and 3rd Special Forces Group. Bobby was our coach in 1994 and 1995 and is the winner of the 1990 Best Ranger Competition with Mark Sheehan.

 

With a deep understanding of Best Ranger standards, Bobby ensured the training regimen addressed every possible challenge the competition presented.

Mike O'Dell

Coach

Mike O'Dell, age 62, passed away on April 12, 2025 in Rochester, NY. He was a retired First Sergeant serving in 3rd Battalion, 75th Ranger Regiment, 10th Mountain Division, Light Fighters School, 25th Infantry Division, and US Army Recruiting Command.

He was our coach in 1999.
